Mourinho and Chelsea Share 'Verbal Agreement' Over Future
Tuesday, May 5
Duncan Castles of One World Sports posted his inside knowledge on the situation, suggesting Mourinho is likely to extend his tenure as manager soon:
Jose Mourinho has agreed on a two-year extension to his contract as Chelsea manager. The new deal, which runs until the summer of 2019, secures the Portuguese's status as football's best-remunerated coach.According to sources familiar with the negotiations, discussions about revising the four-season contract Mourinho agreed upon his 2013 return to Stamford Bridge, began at the end of last year. A verbal agreement has now been reached, with the deal expected to be formally concluded before the end of Chelsea's successful Premier League campaign.
Mourinho has taken just two seasons to return the west London club to England's summit. His reappearance was always likely to spark success, but even Chelsea fans will be impressed by how quickly the Portuguese boss has built a powerful squad.

Sunday's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace saw Chelsea wrestle the Premier League trophy away from Manchester City, who once again failed to defend their silverware. Mourinho previously won the trophy in 2005 and 2006, meaning he has the credentials to retain glory next season.
Cesc Fabregas, who has played a key role in the side's success since being bought by Mourinho in the summer, admires the manager's attitude: "He just loves winning," said Cesc, per Matt Barlow of the Daily Mail. "I'm not saying other managers I've played under don't, but he has some edge that goes above anyone else I have ever been with. The mentality shows in every single training session or game. I now understand why he has won what he has won in his career."

Club owner Roman Abramovich chopped and changed eight separate managers between 07-13, Mourinho's time away from the club, but Chelsea rarely look stronger than when the former Real Madrid man is in charge.
He has a winner's mentality, and love or hate his complex character, the Premier League is a more entertaining division with Mourinhoinvolved.
At 52 years old, the boss has a chance to build a long-lasting era at the club. Think Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United or Arsene Wenger atArsenal. If Abramovich allows Mourinho through the difficult moments without wielding his power, Chelsea are likely to remain regular silverware winners for years to come.
