Oops—we were so caught up covering the 2016 presidential
election in the United States that we forgot that citizens of the United
Kingdom are about to go to the polls. We scrambled to put together a
guide to the U.K. elections, but we realized that we didn’t know all
that much about it. So we called in our special British elections
correspondent, John Cleese, whom we keep on retainer for occasions like
these. We had lots of questions, such as:
Bloomberg Politics: David Cameron—what’s he like?
John Cleese: A bit toffee-nosed.
BP: How about Nick Clegg? He’s like their version of Joe Biden, right?
JC: He’s only 17.
BP: What are the differences between Scottish, Irish, and Welsh people?
JC: Scots and Irish: large, ginger, hairy. From Wales: short, dark, and bowlegged. Very easy to spot.
